Ponseti: Clubfoot problems are major congenital cause of disability. Medical Science does not yet know the reason for this cause. The only way to deal with this problem is early identification and intervention. Since most of the cases are reported late to HRDC and severity of the problems is high, surgical procedure becomes the only choice for many cases. We have just introduced a new concept of managing clubfoot problems in the local level. This concept has been tested in African region and found a very useful technique easy to transfer the skill to field workers. We have 15 field workers carrying out follow – up and social sensitization work. So we are planning to train them to carry out the work. It will take about a year to initiate the work in the field level through the two Satellite centres to begin with. |
