Community Based Rehabilitation Department is an important department of HRDC/FOD. CBR formed by FOD/HRDC addresses the systematic follow-up of the clients after initial treatment. It also disseminates information and education to aware the clients and their care takers on prevention of disability, rehabilitation and continue primary rehabilitation therapy. Initially the objective was to escort clients and their families from their home to the treatment center and back. Experience, however demonstrated that rehabilitation is less effective without the involvement of the family and the community as a whole. Thus CBR department works hand-in-hand with the communities and families, for achieving optimum functional independence thereby improving the quality of life of children with disability by mobilizing the local resources.
Objectives:
Support and assist in achieving an optimal functional independence in the activities of daily living through the various activities presented in logical framework analysis.
Enable people with disability to participate in community development initiatives to encourage their potentials.
Increase local partnership collaboration in disability prevention and rehabilitation thereby increasing Cost-Sharing by partners.
For both the objectives, the scope of coverage is limited to 20 districts by HRDC-CBR Facilitators, 30 districts by HRDC Partners and additional 6 districts by Mobile Camps. The scope of number of patient coverage is limited to 5200 by CBR Facilitators and 4800 by partners.
