POD - Prosthetic and Orthosis Department


Prosthetic Orthotic Department
is one of the important department of HRDC which designs and produces different types of orthopedic appliances such as artificial limb, spinal brace, lower limb orthoses etc. This department plays a vital role in the rehabilitation of the children with physical disability through assistive device in order to make them mobile in different terrain and achieve better rehabilitation outcome.

 

Moulding Orthosis

Objectives:
Support and strengthen the treatment and rehabilitation of children with physical disability in order to provide them with functional independence.
Ensure quality service by providing quality orthopedic appliances required for the treatment and rehabilitation of the patients in the hospital.
Identify training needs in prosthetic & Orthotic sector for staffs, patients and their caretakers and conduct in it on POD and in scheduled training sessions.
Study and use local materials instead of expensive imported raw materials for manufacturing the appliances.
Networking with national and international organizations working in prostheses & orthoses for sharing experience, technology and resources.(PONN)
Provide training for other organizations.
Provide Skill Training in fabrication of Orthopedic Shoes for other Organizations.
Orthopedic appliances distribution during mobile camps at least twice a year covering both western and Eastern regions.
