TRAINING DESIGN

The 3-month long training is geared towards the crucial needs of primary rehabilitation therapy in the rural villages where rehabilitation services are non-existent, except in the districts where rehabilitation facilitators are deployed. Therefore, the training is primarily designed for the potential workforce in PRT in rural communities where people with disabilities have no access or very limited access to rehabilitation services.
The 3-month long training is divided into two phases; first seven weeks is focused intensively on theoretical sessions, followed by practical classes for hands-on experience. The later five-week is focused exclusively on practical classes; community based field training and in the rehabilitation set-ups such as hospitals & rehabilitation centers. Training course is designed comprehensively covering the basics of physiotherapy, prosthetic & orthotic, and aspects of rehabilitation with simplified terminologies.

TEN-DAY REFRESHER COURSE is conducted after one year of completion of the PRT Training with a view to reinforce the training getting feedback on the contents and usefulness and to share practical field experience. The cost of Refresher Course is included in the PRT Training fee.
A core trainers’ team of resource persons fro1m HRDC and other institutions impart theoretical and practical skills. Participants are given ample opportunities to assess cases, conduct case studies, handle cases, carry out rehabilitation planning etc.

Methodology used:
Practical:
• Case studies, presentations
• Observations / Field Visits
• Attachments

Theory:
• Lectures with demonstrations

POST TRAINING EXPECTATIONS

After the completion of training, successful participants will return to their respective communities to cater PRT services to people with disability. It is strongly communicated to participants that they should understand the limitation of the training and actions used accordingly so that no harm is reflected to clients.
After implementation of PRT Training in the field, HRDC organizes the Refresher Training where we review usefulness of the PRT and improve further skill based sessions. We expect you to take this as formative approach to further enhance your knowledge and skill in PRT.

EXPECTED DEMONSTRATIVE OUTCOMES OF THE TRAINING

After completion of 3-month training program, participants will be able to:
Describe the importance of Primary Rehabilitation Therapy and demonstrate use of PRT to the persons with disability and communities,
